You know the feeling, don’t you? The soft, sweet, slinky texture of chocolate seducing your taste buds as you nibble that meltingly gorgeous confection. Ah, there is nothing like it, is there?

Chocolate is the answer to every question. How do you feel? Better after chocolate! What would you like for dinner? Chocolate. See how it works?

It is a known fact that man should feed his woman chocolate on a regular basis to keep her temper sweet and relaxed. We know now that by eating chocolate we are releasing endorphins in the brain. Endorphins are the things that make us feel good. Running can cause your brain to release endorphins but personally, I prefer my endorphins in silver foil!

“It’s Mother Nature’s solution via food cravings to try to elevate those chemicals, help us feel better and to function more efficiently,” said Deborah Waterhouse, author of “Why Women Need Chocolate.” “We will crave chocolate or some other food that has sugar and fat to help bring those chemicals back into balance.” (from CNN Food)

If you are worried that eating chocolate is a guilty pleasure just remember that dark chocolate can actually be good for you. It is almost a health food. You know, I think that any product that can turn my mood from sour to serene must be a health food, too.

Next time you do the shopping you can skip the medicine aisle at the supermarket and head straight to the confectionary. Stock up on chocolate and stay happy.

Origin Of Valentine’s Day by Author:Nicole Dean

Each February, in places around the world, friends exchange flowers, gifts, and candy in celebration of Valentine’s Day. The name of St. Valentine is known across the globe as a patron saint. Most of us however, do not know the true origin of St. Valentine and how this special day came to be. What we do know is that February is the month of romance. As we know it today, St. Valentine’s Day contains elements of both ancient Roman and Christian traditions. The Catholic Church recognizes at least three martyred saints names Valentine or Valentineus.

One of the common legends states that Valentine was a priest that served in third century Rome. At the time, Emperor Claudius II declared that single males made superior soldiers than did those who had wives and children and he outlawed marriage for all young men in order to optimize his potential army of soldiers. Valentine immediately realized the injustice in this declaration and continued to perform marriages in secret ceremonies, which was in direct defiance of Emperor Claudius II.

Upon learning of Valentine’s actions, the Emperor immediately had him put to death.

There are additional stories surrounding Valentine that suggest he was killed for attempting to assist Christians in escaping Roman prisons where they were often tortured and beaten. If one particular legend holds true, Valentine himself sent the first ever “valentine” greeting.

It is believed that Valentine fell in love with a jailer’s daughter while in prison. The girl had visited Valentine in jail, during which time Valentine fell deeply in love with her. It is thought that before his death, Valentine sent her a letter that he signed “From Your Valentine”.
By the time of Valentine’s death and subsequent sainthood, he was one of the most popular legends in England and France during the Middle Ages.

The early pastors of Roman Christian churches used St. Valentine’s Day as the day young men chose maidens from the congregation as potential brides. Since that time there have been many traditions that have become an important part of Valentine’s Day. Cards, gifts, and the promise of eternal love are the most common way that we express our feelings on this very special day each year. In the United States, the first commercially printed Valentine’s Day cards began appearing in the early 1800s. Since that time, Valentine’s Day has become a highly profitable business in which millions of dollars are spent each year.

While we enjoy and anticipate Valentine’s Day and the gifts we will give and receive, it is important to remember that this very special day originated with no gifts whatsoever, but rather an promise of eternal love and happiness that cost nothing at all.

Most countries across the globe celebrate Father’s day on the third Sunday in June, with only Australia and New Zealand celebrating it on the first Sunday in September.

The idea for creating a day to honor fathers began in Spokane, Washington when a woman who had been raised by her father was attending a Mother’s day sermon in 1909. Sonora Smart Dodd wanted her father to know how special he was to her.

The first fathers day was celebrated on June 19, 1910.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!

From: Cadbury Website

Cadbury Australia and Fairtrade Labelling Australia & New Zealand today announced plans for the nations’ favourite chocolate, Cadbury Dairy Milk®, to achieve Fairtrade Certification by Easter 2010. This ground

breaking move means cocoa farmers and communities can look forward to a better and brighter future as Fairtrade cocoa sales increase in Ghana and new Fairtrade opportunities open up for cocoa growers in other parts of the world.

This move will more than triple the amount of Fairtrade product sold throughout Australia and is part of Cadbury’s ongoing global commitment to Fairtrade. Consumers in Britain and Ireland are now able to buy Cadbury Dairy Milk® Fairtrade Certified™ chocolate in store and today’s announcement coincides with confirmation of similar plans for Cadbury Dairy Milk® in New Zealand and Canada.

Fairtrade is a unique, independent system providing farmers with the security of fair minimum prices for their produce and additional investment for social, environmental and economic development in their communities. Fairtrade Executive Director Steve Knapp said Cadbury’s commitment to using Fairtrade Certified™ cocoa was a landmark step from a local, market-leading chocolate manufacturer.

“Cadbury’s commitment to Fairtrade is life-changing news for cocoa farmers who will be able to sell more of their cocoa as Fairtrade, helping to improve living standards and create a better future for their families and communities,” Mr Knapp said.

“Fairtrade Certification enables Australians who buy Cadbury Dairy Milk® to make a real difference for cocoa farmers with every purchase.

“This announcement sets a new standard for the mainstream chocolate industry in Australia and will open up new Fairtrade opportunities for cocoa farmers in our corner of the world,” he said.

Managing Director for Cadbury Australia & New Zealand Mark Callaghan said Cadbury’s commitment to use Fairtrade Certified™ cocoa made it the first major chocolate manufacturer in Australia to make the change.

“Cadbury is incredibly proud to bring Fairtrade Certified™ Cadbury Dairy Milk, our signature block, to Australian consumers by purchasing Fairtrade Certified™ cocoa” Mr Callaghan said.

“Cadbury has a long tradition of being pioneers in sustainable chocolate production and sourcing Fairtrade Certified™ cocoa is another example of this commitment.

“I’m also incredibly proud that by making this change, we are effectively making Fairtrade Certified™ Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate available in every part of Australia at no extra cost to our customers. It’s Cadbury Dairy Milk with the same taste, same cost, but extra ethics,” he said

Fairtrade Certification of Cadbury Dairy Milk® means Fairtrade and its international partner certification body, FLO-Cert, will independently monitor and audit the supply chain to ensure it meets internationally agreed Fairtrade standards.

Cadbury intends for Fairtrade Certified™ Cadbury Dairy Milk® products to be available, on shelf, for Easter 2010.
